Saturday Nov. 17th. Goodbye! Trip from the Mara back to Nairobi. Transmission trouble. Broken van.

The amazing tour guides and their groups.  We each liked our drivers so much, we did not want to switch it up.

Long bumpy road from the Mara back to Nairobi. Loads of vegetable stands along the way. Always enough to see! Local markets, very full trucks!!!

Our van broke down one hour away from Nairobi and we were picked up by another vehicle but had to say goodbye to our diver Robert. We made it in time for our flight to Zanzibar, eleven of us going on. The others are on their way back to the other real world.

Nov. 16 Maasai .

Visit to the Maasai yesterday. They performed an intimidating welcoming dance. They’re nomadic and used to move every 3 to 5 years.  Their huts are made of cow dung.  They showed us how to make fire without a match and set some cow dung in fire. Such a useful skill to learn! 🤨

The kids are always so sweet and there were many because it is their holiday break.

The higher they can jump, the more eligible they are as a bachelor.  Thankfully they did not ask us to try it!

Nanyuki spinners and Weavers visit

It is a craft cooperative started in 1978, the Canadian government supported this women’s initiative and donated spinning wheels and other equipment. They  still support them today. The women work eight hours a week, six days a week. If they work on one rug for two weeks, they earn the equivalent of $US 5.00….
