We drove through beautiful scenic countryside, across the fertile Saiss Valley and then feasted our eyes on magnificent cedar forests and high pastures dotted with shepherd’s black tents. Along the way, we stopped to visit and have tea with a nomadic Berber woman in her tented home in the hills. What a surreal experience – sitting in the carpeted rustic tent sipping tea!
After our lunch stop in Midelt, we traveled on to Erfoud, where we jumped into 4×4 vehicles for a wild ride across the sand dunes to our desert camp! Then, we embarked on the “ship of the desert”, each of us riding a camel to watch the sun set behind the dunes. Local musicians entertained us in the evening before going to sleep in our tents under the desert stars! In the early morning, we delighted in sunset in the Sahara. Incredible!
